Upon completion of the course, the students
- understand the nature of political communication and its role in politics,
- are familiar with the techniques of political rhetoric and persuasion,
- are able to critically analyse historic and current political messaging.
The course provides an introduction to the role of communication in politics. We will examine historic and modern examples of political messages, including political speeches, debates, advertisement, social media and news. The primary focus will be on American politics and the 2022 United States midterm elections.
Variable online learning activities, independent work, reading and writing assignments

This course utilises continuous assessment. It is ultimately based on the final exam and home assignments, online participation and contribution to the class community online. Academic honesty and professionalism is expected.
The course utilises the verbal grading scale “pass/ fail” or a numerical grading scale 0–5. In the numerical scale zero stands for a fail.
