Learning Outcomes
Upon completion the student should be able to:
- display general knowledge of some broad periods in the history of English-language literature and an understanding of selected representative texts
- understand and be able to use a range of central literary concepts and terms
- offer personal readings of individual literary texts based on close reading and textual evidence.
Contents
This course will offer students a broad overview of English literary history by presenting and analyzing a range of literary texts from different periods and nations. The course covers prose and poetry, and focuses on the development of close reading and interpretative skills.

Assessment Methods and Criteria
Assessment will be based on a portfolio consisting of various assignments.
Grading
The course utilises a numerical grading scale (0–5). In the numerical scale zero stands for a fail.
